Megève: The Elegant Mountain Refuge

Contact us

Megève is a resort built around a medieval village dating back to the 14th century. It's a place rich in history and internationally known. Visiting the French Alps without stopping by Megève is a mistake not to make. Surrounded by mountains and green forests, the resort boasts no less than 400 kilometers of slopes in the Evasion Mont Blanc area. Megève is an elegant haven where comfort, nature, style, wellness, and gastronomy meet.

Presentation and location

Megève is a true mountain town with over 3,000 inhabitants. It was established through the initiative of Baroness Noémie de Rothschild and is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. It's alive all year round and boasts unique hotels and restaurants. This broad valley offers two alpine ski areas, three Nordic areas as well as a golf course (The Domain of Mont d'Arbois), an altiport, a congress center, and an incredible aquatic space. Megève has one of the most beautiful high-altitude shopping offerings with renowned fashion stores, jewelers, and essential decoration shops.

Located between 1,027 and 2,845 meters altitude, the resort has a capacity of about 40,000 people. Today, its urbanization is continuous between Praz-sur-Arly, Megève, Demi-Quartier, and Combloux.

Access to the resort

Megève is one of the most accessible places in the Alps, 20 minutes from the Passy motorway exit. By car, it's just 6 hours from Paris, 2 hours from Lyon, and one hour from Annecy.

As for green transportation, TGV trains connect Sallanches and Saint-Gervais to the rest of France. It still takes just under 30 minutes by shuttle or taxi from the train station to Megève. Isn't it more comfortable without traffic jams or pollution?

Skiing

The resort offers two alpine ski areas surrounded by exceptional panoramas:

The common area with Saint-Gervais

This is the largest area. Facing Mont Blanc, one can enjoy itinerant skiing between the towns of Saint Gervais and the most beautiful places in Megève.

The Portes du Mont Blanc area

This is none other than 100 kilometers of slopes connecting the west of Megève with Combloux and La Giettaz. It's the perfect place for family skiing and enjoyment.

The pass also provides access to the Contamines area and also to the Diamond space which connects Praz sur Arly to the Saisies.

Activities

Megève isn't just a ski resort; it's also a place where shopping, gastronomy, lifestyle, and wellness reign supreme. Whether it's winter, spring, summer, or autumn, there's always something to do. For must-do activities and places aside from skiing, we recommend the following:

The Mont d'Arbois Golf Course

A green with a unique panorama located above the village of Megève. It's the oldest mountain golf course. Redesigned by Henry Cotton, it offers an exceptional view from Mont Joly to the Aravis range.

The Megève Palace

The Palace is dedicated to sports, exhibitions, and your well-being. It includes an ice rink, a climbing wall, a fitness area, and especially one of the most beautiful aquatic spaces.

Gastronomy

Starred chefs, taste for refinement, and traditional cuisine. In Megève, you'll find one of the rare 3-Michelin-starred high-altitude restaurants: Flocon de Sel. All restaurants will offer you an array of extraordinary flavors.

The downtown carriages

Next to the large tree in front of the church, you'll find the meeting place for local taxis. These are sleighs pulled by elegant horses. The carriages of Megève will tour you around the downtown in the most beautiful way.

The benefits of real estate acquisition in Megève

The resort's real estate market has remained stable over the last ten years. Today, prices are rising again and should continue to progress. Prices range between 12,000 and 20,000 euros per square meter. Prices are still reasonable, and the development of activities encourages long-term investment in a city that's alive all year round. Buying a second home has many advantages. Besides preparing your capital and retirement, it serves as a rallying point where families and friends gather in both summer and winter.
